"Fault the Family: Dunk Tank Revenge" scheduled for July 16

Are you mad that Suzi and the boys are calling it quits after this year's Amy Otteman Memorial Classic? Or perhaps you just want a way to contribute some more funds to Central Michigan Community Hospital's endowment for nurse education programs? Or maybe you just want to dunk them (and some others) in a dunk tank for the heck of it?!?

If so, this event is just for you:

"Fault the Family: Dunk Tank Revenge"
8 p.m. to midnight
Thursday, July 16
O'Kelly's Sports Bar & Grille, corner of Mission and Broomfield in Mount Pleasant

Where will it be?
The traditional AOMC pre-party is scheduled for 8 p.m. July 16 on the patio at O'Kelly's. The dunk tank will be part of the party, and it will be set up in the parking lot adjacent to the patio so everyone at the party -- and driving by on Mission! -- can see the Ottemans and some special guests make a splash!

How will it work?
Anyone -- whether you're a guest of the pre-party or just a random Wayside/O'Kelly's patron or a passerby -- is welcome to purchase three balls for $10. Or, for $20, you can just walk up and push the dunk tank button to send an Otteman or friend straight down into the tank -- no aim necessary!

Who will be in the tank?
The Otteman boys -- Tim and Jimmy -- and their mom, Suzi Tengen, will take turns on the "hot seat," as will good friend John Hunter and perhaps some other special guests.

"Pennies for Heaven" campaign

Amy's late grandmother always used to say,
"When you do something nice for someone else, a penny goes up to heaven for you."

As a tribute to both Amy and grandma, we've introduced a special initiative for this year's event: The "Pennies for Heaven" campaign. Each AOMC participant who brings 15 rolls of pennies to the outing on July 17 will receive a special, commemorative "Pennies for Heaven" T-shirt. All of the pennies collected will go directly into Central Michigan Community Hospital's endowment for nurse education programs.

In addition, businesses and organizations around Mount Pleasant have been hosting their own "Pennies for Heaven" drives for months, collecting more than $3,500 in the process. Special thanks to LaBelle Management; Central Michigan Community Hospital; CMU Campus Dining; CMU recreation, parks and leisure services administration students; and CMU's fraternities and sororities for their collaborative (actually, competitive in most cases!) efforts to support the endowment. And thanks also go to the 40+ businesses/offices that currently are displaying the collection cans; look for a "giant penny roll" near the cash register next time you visit your favorite local business ... and be sure to drop in a few pennies!
